Biologic Drug Report - Roche

Roche, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, is a global healthcare company and the leading big pharmaceutical player in the biologics market, with numerous strategic alliances and majority ownership interests in Genentech and Chugai.

Beyond the biologics developed by Genentech and Chugai, which in many cases Roche has agreements to co-develop and/or promote, the major biologics currently marketed by Roche are:

Pegasys (peginterferon alfa 2a). Pegasys is an alfa interferon used in the treatment of adults who have hepatitis c or hepatitis b and signs of liver damage. It works to reduce the amount of virus in the blood, helping the body fight the virus.

NeoRecormon (epoetin beta). NeoRecormon is marketed in Europe for the treatment of anemia in patients with kidney disease and cancer patients on chemotherapy.
